I need your help.

I have accepted a two-part challenge to help Make A Wish.  The first part of the challenge is to raise $2,000.  The second part of the challenge is to rappel off of a 38-story building in downtown Austin, Texas.

Why am I raising money for Make A Wish?

When I was ten, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma.  It’s a blood cancer that is considered terminal.  My doctors were located in Boise which is about two hours from where I live in Twin Falls, Idaho.  For the next 2 ½ years, we made countless trips to Boise for treatments and chemotherapy.  Sometimes we would have to stay for many days or weeks. Most of the chemo I received was not so bad.  Some, however, was horrible like the spinal taps and the bone marrow injections.  It was a very traumatic time for everyone in my family. When I would come home after a rough day at the clinic, I always wondered when I could have a break from trying to live with and survive cancer.

About four months after being diagnosed, Make A Wish approached my family asking if I would want a wish. After a few phone calls to the Oncologist and Make A Wish, I was able to make my wish. It was almost serendipitous. My wish was to go to Disney World.

My whole family was able to go and have a week off from the cancer reality.  The experience was more than any of us could ask for.  Even before the trip, Make A Wish gave me and my family a sense of it’s going to be okay. I enjoyed having something to look forward to.  The experience was irreplaceable and really it was almost a dream come true.

Now that I am cancer free for three years, I want to give back.  My only advice to any child that is eligible for a wish is to make one!  No matter if it’s seeing a celebrity or going on a trip, Make A Wish will make sure you have an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life.  I will never forget my wish or the people that made it happen.  Make a Wish did so much for me and that is why I am honored to be able to give back.

In order to do this I need your help.  My goal is to raise $2000.  Anything you pledge will help.  As I mentioned above, raising the funds is only part of the challenge.  To complete this challenge I will rappel off of the top of a building that is almost 500 feet tall.  I’m doing this with my Dad.  Since he is afraid of heights, he is going to need my encouragement to go over the edge.  He is committed to raising $2000 as well.  Please help us to reach our goal by clicking on the donate link below.  Again, any amount gets me closer to my goal and some deserving child closer to a wish come true.
