In February 2017, my 5 year old son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Overnight our lives changed for the harder and our worries multiplied in ways we never expected.
Make a Wish provided an amazing opportunity in the midst of grief and fear - something to dream about, something to look forward to, something for Victor to imagine, to create and to control duing a time when he had very little control over anything happening in his life.
Having something powerful and positive to focus on was essential to our entire family's ability to cope - it disrupted our anxiety and helped us remember to see Victor as a whole person, with unique dreams and visions for his life, not just a sick kid. It gave us joy and perspective when we needed it most. Wishes are powerful magic.
So I am VERY excited to have this chance to give back and raise funds and awareness for Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas by joining 200 people on June 9th & 10th, 2018, to go Over The Edge - literally! Over The Edge challenges you to face your fears, catch your breath, step up to the edge and rappel from the 32nd story of 600 Congress in the heart of downtown. The first 200 fundraisers to raise a minimum of $1,500 will earn a spot to go Over The Edge.
More than 550 children in central and south Texas are diagnosed each year with a critical medical condition. Last year, Make-A-Wish® Central & South Texas granted 283 wishes for local children. You can help Make-A-Wish® reach more of these children and create hope, strength and joy in their lives. Money raised by rappellers goes towards granting these wishes.
You can also rappel with me by signing up to go Over The Edge too! Click here to register.
I hope you can help me reach my goal and help make a difference in the lives of children who need it most!
